A BUDIRIRO man has appeared in court for stealing motor vehicle parts when he was servicing a motor vehicle.

Peter Mupoperi, 30, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Harare magistrate Isabel Nyoni charged with theft.

He was remanded to today for sentence.

The State led by Benjamin Chikerema proved that on October 17 along Kaguvi Street, the complainant approached Mupoperi who is a mechanic as he wanted his motor vehicle to be serviced.

When the motor vehicle was being serviced, Mupoperi said he had noticed a problem on the exhaust pipe and the pipe was supposed to be removed.

The State also proved that Mupoperi went behind a building and removed all the catalyst powder in the exhaust pipe.

After claiming to have fixed the problem, Mupoperi fitted the exhaust pipe and ordered the complainant to take his motor vehicle.

As the complainant was driving away, he noticed that his motor vehicle had been tempered with prompting him to go and report the matter to the police.

When the matter was reported, police officers failed to locate Mupoperi as he had gone away.

As a result, the complainant lost $4 582 and nothing was recovered.
