DANCEHALL star Winky D has been nominated for the 39th edition of International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) set to be held in Kingston, Jamaica on May 2 where big names like Buju Banton are also vying for awards.
Winky D got nominated for Best Dancehall African Entertainer where there are a variety of different categories like best Afrobeat Entertainer, Best Latin Reggae Flavour and others.
Winky D, as usual, he is competing with the likes of Patoranking from Nigeria, Shatta Wale (Ghana), Stonebwoy (Ghana) and also our own Buffalo Souljah who has been nominated representing South Africa.
Since last year, it is the fourth time Winky D has been nominated for the international awards while bagging two of the awards which included the Africa Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA) where he was crowned the best dancehall artiste from Africa competing with almost the same artistes on the IRAWMA list.
Meanwhile, the dancehall-reggae icon from Jamaica, Buju Banton as announced by IRAWMA on its facebook page, has been nominated for 11 categories on these 39th edition IRAWMA.
Other African heavyweights nominated for IRAWMA in Best Afrobeat Entertainer category are Burna Boy (Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Master KG featuring Nomcebo (SA) and Wizkid (Nigeria).
