Association of Music Promoters (AMPZ) interim chairperson Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza on Sunday hailed online music promoters who have managed to sustain artistes and keeping them relevant during the Covid-19 induced lockdown.
Chimboza who now fronts a new board of music promoters said artistes should complement online music promoters by charging reasonable fees.
“I would like to thank good people like Nash TV and Prophet Passion who have made sure that music fans have something to keep then entertained on lockdown by organising online gigs which is a new development on the showbiz scene.
“Over the years, we were used to public gatherings but we can’t hold them anymore due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“However, there are special people who have come on board by holding online gig that we have been overlooking over the years.
“It’s a plus for the promoters who are doing online gigs because they reap good rewards after the pandemic,” he said.
He however urged artistes to complement online music promoters by charging reasonable fees.
“Since most of the artistes are stranded, we urge them to charge reasonable fees.
“Artistes should realise that these promoters are not making any profits as they are also trying to market their brands.
“So artistes should complement these promoters by charging reasonable fees.
“It high time artistes reduce their charges since we are trying our best to make them remain relevant,” he said.
Asked what he missed most, Chipaz added:
“Obviously we miss numbers since we were used to public gatherings and bring together artistes.
“As it stands, we can’t do anything as we are required to stay indoors.
“To fellow promoters under AMPZ, this is the right time to strategise and map a way forward.
“It is my hope that things will be fine once the Covid-19 is over or suppressed.
“We are not spared as well but life matters most as it stands right now.”
Chipaz is an award-winning promoter who is known for uplifting both upcoming and seasoned artistes.
He is known for holding sold out shows owing to his aggression when it comes to marketing.
