MUSICIAN, corporate lawyer and farmer, Panganayi Hare, reckons domestic violence is not the panacea to challenges couples are facing on lockdown.
The sungura game-changer said the Covid-19 induced lockdown has afforded lovebirds an opportunity to bond and understand each other better.
The 48-year-old opened up in his refreshing new single – Chibhakera – which has since been embraced by fans.
It was recorded at Truetone Studios by Jabulani Ndlovu and mixed by Bothwell Nyamhondera.
And after roping in the two music production gurus, Mukoma Panga – as the 2019 NAMA and ZIMA nominee is fondly known is music circles – said he was concerned by the rising cases of domestic violence on lockdown.
In an interview, Mukoma Panga whose song Panganayi made it into the Radio Zimbabwe Top 50 Coca Cola charts last year, said he was ready to use his influence to tackle the issue of domestic violence.
“As a lawyer and counsellor, I have realised that it is my responsibility that I play my part in raising awareness against domestic violence.
“Of course we are all fighting Covid-19 at the moment but we tend to forget that there are some issues that are rampant during this time of the year like domestic violence since most couples are on lockdown.
“I decided to add my voice on the issue by releasing this single which I think will also address the issue.
“Besides the my effort to fight domestic violence, the song urges people to be strong, firm and resolute all the times,” he said.
As part of his efforts to complement the overwhelming response of the audio, Mukoma Panga has since stepped up efforts to produce its video.
“The production of the video have reached advanced stage and we are currently shooting it with the hope to release it soon.
“I have been busy in the studio on lockdown after realising that I can’t be lying idle at home.
“Since most of the activities were banned, I decided to utilise the opportunity to work on my second album, which carries this single.
“We are following the health regulations stipulated by Government and the World Health Organisation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mukoma Panga is busy writing new songs and clearing the back of some of the production work in the studio.
Mukoma Panga made a name for himself as a Bulawayo based music promoter before he relocated to Harare.
He promoted almost all the household names on Zim showbiz comprising both the departed and living legends.
These comprise the likes of Alick Macheso, Simon Chimbetu, Tongai Moyo, Cephas Mashakada, Beatar mangethe, Sandra Ndebele, Nicholas Zakaria, Allan Chimbetu among others.
As a musician, he surprised many two years ago when he released his debut album titled Mbuva Yehwiza which shook the music industry.
