FC Platinum coach Pieter de Jong has hailed the club’s new signings saying they are giving him hope ahead of a tricky 2020 season.

De Jong brought inn Silas Songani, Future Sibanda, Ellie Illunga, Ralph Kawondera, Donald Dzvinyai, Last Jet, Nomore Chinyerere and Stanley Ngala amongst other new players.

Ellie Illunga and Songani scored in their two matches against Triangle on Saturday.

“We did played two friendly matches against Triangle. In both games it was our new signings who scored and it’s a sign that we just did not bring inn players to add numbers.

“It was Elias and Songani who scored for us.  I am satisfied with our new guys, they are giving us value for our money.

“The new players are impressing. If they keep up with this good performance we will be unstoppable in the upcoming season,” said De Jong.

De Jong said their squad is promising fireworks as he said they have to start by winning the Castle Challenge Cup nest week Sunday at Barbourfields.

He said the Triangle match was part of their preparations for the Highlanders clash, where De Jong is set to make an early Barbourfields return.

“We played a competitive side, they have good players and a good coach too. The match was meant to help us prepare for Highlanders.

“We are not going to have more friendlies. This week will be for the final touches.

“We will be addressing our shortfalls. The match helped me see where we are and there is tremendous progress,” he added.

The former Highlanders coach said they are confident of victory.

De Jong joined FC Platinum from Highlanders, early January.

He said they have an equally good team.

“We are on the right track. I have a better picture of my team now and I am satisfied with it.

“We are ready and I am confident these players will make me proud. I believe in them,” he said.
