DANCERS Association of Zimbabwe (DAZ) president Harpers Mapimhidze says transparency will prevail when they hold their annual awards ceremony at City Sports Bar tonight.
Today’s event marks the association’s fifth edition since its inception.
Mapimhidze said, the adjudicators were thorough in their selection process and there will be no favours.
“As usual we will be awarding the best and there will be no favours.

“The winners are based on best performances.
“Dancing is always looked downed upon and this the chance we believe can give our dancers the opportunity to be honoured.
“There are at least 20 categories at this awards ceremony which is being sponsored by our usual Promoter, Devine Assignments,”he said.
Mapimhidze said there are 22 categories for the dancers, 12 for dance groups and 10 for individuals which include, Best Dance Group, Most Disciplined Dance Group, Best Dressed Dance Group and Most Innovative Group among others.
“There is also going to be lots of entertainment from various groups. We want those who feel DAZ dancers don’t deserve national recognition to come as see them in action,” he added.
Individuals’ categories include, Best Female Dancer, Best Male Dancer, Versatile Dancer and Longest Serving Dancer among others.
Bev and Sexy Angels, Tyrants Squad, Afro Queens, Sungura masters, Syndicate crew, Starlight Musica, Zoey and Red Angels, Apama, Prama Stove are some of the nominees up for the best awards.
Best Rhumba Dance group, Best Hip-hop Dance Group, Most Consistent dance group, Most Versatile dance group, Most innovative Dance group, Individuals categories & nominee’s, Best Male Dancer, Best Female dancer, Best arts performer (Male) among other categories.
Amongst the entertainers there will be Mai Titi, Blessing and the blades, Progess Chipfumo, Andy Muridzo among other artists.
