WARRIORS’ Afcon 2021 qualifying matches have been brought forward following changes to the tournament dates.

The 2021 Afcon finals to be hosted by Cameroon will now be held from January 9 to February 6 as reported elsewhere in today’s edition.

Zimbabwe will now host Algeria in back-to-back encounters between March 23 and 31 instead of the initial end of August dates.

Warriors will then travel to Botswana during the international break of June 1 to 9 before their home match against Zambia between August 31 to September 8.

Zimbabwe are in Group H with four points after two matches, two behind Algeria who top the standings.

Two teams qualify for the finals.

Following the developments, the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers which were expected to start in March will now be begin at the end of the year.

The changes will also push Zifa to announce a coach for the national team early to allow him prepare for the matches.
