Mr Modi’s strong social responsibility programmes through sponsorships and donations to needy causes in Bulawayo province have made him a household name in this country for his benevolent service to society.

After officially opening the Wholesale Centre Liquor Hub, VP Mnangagwa will also be the guest of honour at the Old Mutual Raj Modi T20 Children’s Cricket Cup at Heath Streak Academy.

Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Cde Andrew Langa will also grace the cricket tournament.

Mr Modi opened the store in mid-February this year after he quit Choppies Zimbabwe.

He had been Choppies Zimbabwe managing director after selling off his entire Sai Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd business to Botswana’s largest retail outlet.

Modi’s former empire comprised about 10 branches, among them flagship, Bellevue Spar, Nkulumane Spar, Entumbane Spar, City Spar and Down Town Spar.

In January he was quoted as saying he invested more than $1 million into the new venture.
